If we don't sign Lee or LaRoche for 1B I hope they just let Luke Scott play there. I wonder if they would give Reimold a chance to play their in Spring Training though, they gave him a shot at Norfolk last year and he did okay.

Rule 5 draft tomorrow. I wonder if MacPhail is going to pick someone 4th overall with the intention of trading him to the Twins for Hardy.

We need to get Lee or LaRoche as well as Hardy to have any chance at .500 next season.

I would not mind if one of them played first, but would be dissapointed in not signing lee or laroche.
I also expect at least 2 orioles to get drafted in rule 5 (egan, pelzer, adams)

I think Egan will. I have the feeling Pelzer won't. His AFL stats were terrible.
Do you think a team would put a guy on their 40-man with huge control problems?

Haha you never know. Most people who are drfted in the rule 5 are returned shortly anyway (steve johnson last year).

rule 5 is basically just a big gamble, and if you hit the jackpot then it cost you basically nothing.

My dad said that he read Showalter said you need a good defensive 1B to win. I don't think he would be comfortable with someone like Scott or Nolan at 1B so I'm thinking we will get Lee.

WNST says the thing with Lee is he wants a 3rd year and we are only offering a 2nd. Just set up an option with a decent buyout IMO.

I really think Nolan should start out at AAA. He should be 100% going into next season. Let Pie start in LF and Nolan get his AB's in AAA. It will only be a matter of time until Pie gets hurt and then you can call him up to play once Pie goes on the DL. Or, if Pie struggles, call Nolan up.

i think nolan will get a shot in spring training (as im sure you think the same thing). Depending on how he plays, it may be bad to send him down. I think its now or never with him.

It's not the 40 man. They need to stay on the 25 man active roster for a full season. Neither of the guys that are at risked of getting picked will make an MLB roster next season for the entire year.

It will be like Steve Johnson last year. Someone will get selected, fans will call MacPhail an idiot, he won't stick with whatever team selects him, and we get them back and people will say MacPhail is still an idiot for risking it.

Whoops, my bad. I meant 25-man. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah he will get a shot but I don't think it is now or never with him. I think Felix is a "nugget" in Buck's eyes because he is always hustling (Reimold does too but IDK I just get the feeling that Buck likes Pie).

Reimold didn't do that hot in AAA last year. He had the Achilles recovering as well as the off the field problems with his ex-fiance. I think he could rake in AAA for a month or two with Pie starting in LF and if Pie struggles or gets hurt call him up.

It worked well his rookie year when Pie got extended time. The difference is this time if Pie is struggling you don't keep sticking him out there because we are trying to win, you call Reimold up as long as he is hitting well.

Neither have an edge over each other defensively. Pie is faster and makes more spectacular plays but he fucks up a lot. Reimold is slower and makes more routine plays and has a better arm but he fucks up a lot too.
