He wasn't the so-called Cy Young winner, he WAS the cy young winner.

I know but to me there are better pitchers in the American League. No disrespect to him.

Three outs away from being no-hit and this is after the Indians shut the Astros down 2-0 last night. I've seen some of the best pitching from Cleveland in this opening three-game series. Ironically it was Corey Kluber, last year's American League cy young winner, that the Astros defeated in the first game.

Carlos Carrasco was fantastic (10 Ks over 6.1 scoreless innings) and Trevor Bauer looked unhittable today (11 Ks over 6 shutout innings) even though he tired out and the Indians bullpen will have to finish off his no-no. They've already have six up and six down.

This 2015 Astros lineup has a good chance to break their own "strikeout record as a team" this year. Way too many guys free swinging and very little plate discipline. I'm kind of cheering for the Indians to finish off this no-hitter today. Their pitching, starting rotation and bullpen, has been excellent during this series.

I was trying to remain optimistic about this year's team but a 1-2 record to start off is tough. They just ran into some great pitching but even so you can tell it's going to be another long season with this lineup. They haven't even hit a home run yet, no runs scored in nearly 20 innings total, and this lineup was supposed to be built on raw power. They're about to be no-hit.

Solo home run for Jed Lowrie. Way to break up that no-hitter and shutout. Also the first home run hit this season for the Astros.

So close to a no-hitter. Nick Hagadone just served up a batting practice type pitch...

The Indians still took this series two games out of three.

I used to be a guest on a local sports-talk radio show with David Nuno, who now works for ABC-13 sports, way back when (2008) on 1560 AM The Game. I would call in to talk about the Astros. Seems like that was the last year we were in playoff contention: One game out of the wild-card race before Hurricane Ike hit in September. Since then the Astros haven't been anywhere near the playoffs. It's been hard to watch this team over the last seven years. I watch every game too.

I sure hope you're right. I'm taking it one game at a time. It's going to be a long season.
Because of how tough the American League West is I have to remain cautiously optimistic.

Manager A.J. Hinch just announced the Astros starting lineup for tonight's first game.

1. Jose Altuve (R) 2B
2. George Springer (R) RF
3. Luis Valbuena (L) 3B
4. Evan Gattis (R) DH
5. Chris Carter (R) 1B
6. Jason Castro (L) C
7. Jed Lowrie (S) SS
8. Colby Rasmus (L) LF
9. Jake Marisnick (R) CF

I'm intrigued by some of the power potential this year's team has. Just please stay healthy.

I want to see some of these young guys, besides Jose Altuve, becoming all-stars. George Springer is probably the most developed towards doing that. Jake Marisnick was once considered a five-tool top prospect. He's still only 24 years old but hitting ninth in an American League lineup is sort of underwhelming for a guy who was once deemed something special.

He did show some pop at the end of last year after the Astros acquired him from the Miami Marlins.

Maybe Jake Marisnick will set the world on fire this year (late bloomer) and prove all of those scouts right.
The one thing Marisnick did do extremely well last season was flash around some serious leather in the outfield.

The fact I'm kind of excited about the guy hitting ninth in our opening day lineup concerns me. LOL

Man... Wtf got into the Astros so far?! I didn't expect this, nor do I think it will last all season but they sure made it fun for you guys to start it off. I just need Springer to start blasting dingers....
