I jinxed it. It was too good to be true. The Astros bullpen has blown the most potential saves in all of baseball since 2010.

Athletics score three runs in the bottom of the 9th to win 4-3. Chad Qualls has 5 blown saves this year. 4 of them against Oakland.

I hope the Astros release him tomorrow. No point letting him finish the season. I'd rather see some young and hungry kid try to close games from the minor leagues. The Astros have a couple of flamethrowers who can top 101 MPH at Corpus Christi Double-A.

chad qualls is trash dude.
A's have 3 wins in like the last 11 games, and 2 of them are off the astros, with astros leading the game going into the 9th, and qualls handing the game to them.

The Astros have to spend anywhere from $20 to $50 million dollars in free agency this winter. They can start by overpaying the top two relievers on the market. Usually I'm not a fan of overpaying a closer or set-up man but clearly if you want to become a good team you need reliable bullpen arms who can nail it down late. This didn't matter the past several years because the team overall was horrible but now they are good enough to compete.

Tony Sipp (two outs) and Josh Fields (one out) combined to pick up the save. Anybody is more reliable than Chad Qualls. Astros scored two runs in the top of the ninth to win 4-3. Pretty much the opposite of what happened yesterday. Winning two out of three games at Oakland is still pretty good. The Astros played them toe to toe.

Astros are locked in a 1-1 tie with the Mariners in the top of the 8th. King Felix started tonight.

Seems like every game for the past few weeks the Astros have competed against some of the best teams in baseball.

Record aside, they finally have a fun team to watch (that competes) for the first time in years, and I mean, yearssssss....

Hopefully it will translate to some success in 2015.

EDIT: Also George Springer has been on the DL forever. Once he comes back the offense will pick up even more.
