I mean I kind of jumped up at it, but... What it really tells me is its up to Cespedes regardless...
Hes 29, and going to be 30 soon... Hes going to want to cash in, so... It basically tells me if Cespedes doesn't get outbid by 29 other teams, then the Mets win.
I just don't see the Mets shelling that money, nor do I see Cespedes that infatuated with the Mets enough to take a discount.
We'll see though. This certainly gives us a better chance of re-signing, but ultimately Cespedes is in full control here.
I see the Mets offering 7/140, which Cespedes will vehemently turn down.
