From Nick Cafardo’s notes in the Boston Globe …

According to one Phillies source, the Yankees have come the closest to landing [Cole] Hamels, offering a package of prospects that at least has given the Phillies a baseline for future talks.

So it sounds like this is something the Phillies could circle back to if their talks with other teams aren’t as fruitful. Or maybe the Yankees’ interest is all about drumming up the cost for their rival, the Red Sox, who have been tied most tightly to Hamels this winter.

CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman suspects that the Texas Rangers may take another long look at Hamels now that staff ace Yu Darvish is facing Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.

Hamels posted a terrific 2.46 ERA (151 ERA+) and 8.7 K/9 in 204 2/3 innings last season for Philadelphia.

The 31-year-old left-hander is under contract for the next four years at a total of $94 million.

ive been around him quite a bit in my life..

hes undoubtedly probably the strongest human ive ever seen in a weight room..

oh and i think hes listed like 6'7'' 230?

hes every single bit of 6'7'', im 6'3'' and he towers over me and last time i got on a scale with him he was 268 pounds... and probably idk.. 9% body fat?

he is a true true genetic freak of nature and special athlete.

yankees have a very very big future to look forward to, no pun intended.

edit: i just looked at that picture again.. i mean jesus look at him... he looks like he could go play in the NFL while ryan howard looks like he sits in a cubicle all day lol.

basically
