Josh Zeid. Nooooooo. Two-run double for Howie Kendrick. There goes the shutout and Keuchel's scoreless streak. 2 earned runs on Keuchel. ERA back to 2.90 or so.

Two outs and nobody on base. Trout and Pujols single. All Kuechel allowed tonight were five singles.
Maybe we should have left him in to face Howie Kendrick. Hindsight is 20-20. He was tired at 128 pitches.

Josh Zeid got C.J. Cron to ground out. Astros win 5-2

The Astros are 5-1 in their last 6 games. And still our season record is 17-28

LOL, still need to keep the hot streak going just to sniff .500 at some point. I doubt we will but I want to avoid 100 losses for a fourth straight year.

Tomorrow night's pitching matchup: Scott Feldman (2-1, 2.63 ERA) versus Tyler Skaggs (3-1, 4.53 ERA)

Looks like another Astros win and four wins in a row and six of their last seven. No doubt about it, Kennedy. LOL

I don't see why the good times have to end. Get back to 10 games under. 500 since they were 10-20 back on May 3

I don't even care about having the first overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft next year anymore.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/group/9

But even after going 5-1 in their last 6 games. The Astros are barely ahead of the Cubs for the worst record. LOL
We're close to passing the Diamondbacks also but Arizona is talented and will probably heat up sooner or later.

16 days away until the 2014 MLB Draft on June 5. At least we'll have the first overall pick in this upcoming draft. I still want 21-year-old Carlos Rodon number one overall. He's an electric lefty with an A+ fastball and slider. May as well add another south paw to the starting rotation to go along with Dallas Keuchel in the future.

Brady Aiken and Tyler Kolek - the two high school phenoms - are possibilities.

MLB Insider Keith Law discusses the potential top overall pick for the Houston Astros in the 2014 MLB draft.

Video feed is in low 240 pixels. Not a good video but you can see it. He mentions a catcher which makes sense.

The Astros are loaded at every position in the minor leagues except for catcher. Starting pitching is what wins though. IMO

Brady Aiken is a lefty also which is what I like. 17 years old and four years younger than Carlos Rodon. But Rodon's fastball/slider combo is special. Not sure why Keith Law says a pro team will take away Aiken's cutter? That is what made Andy Pettitte one of the best lefties in MLB history. If he's got a cutter going let the kid work it and harness it.

I still think Carlos Rodon is the safest pick. His slider is already nasty and good enough to get MLB hitters out.

Oh well, only 16 days away until we know for sure. I can't wait for June 5

5/19/14: Jose Altuve ranges far to his left, spins and throws accurately to first base to rob Chris Iannetta of a base hit

The Astros lineup tonight facing Tyler Skaggs

1. Jose Altuve (R) 2B
2. George Springer (R) RF
3. Dexter Fowler (S) CF
4. Jason Castro (L) DH
5. Matt Dominguez (R) 3B
6. Chris Carter (R) 1B
7. Jesus Guzman (R) LF
8. Carlos Corporan (S) C
9. Jonathan Villar (S) SS

Trying to make it four wins in a row for the first time this year. Make me believe tonight, Astros.

George Springer drew another walk. He's been showing better plate discipline this month after he struggled in April. We need more pop in the middle of our batting order though. I hope Domingo Sanatana and Jon Singleton are called up soon. You need a lot of good on-base percentage guys and power hitters to survive in the American League.
