Tate has been pitching through a leg injury that sapped some of his stuff. He would have been untouchable if he had been pitching healthy and to his talent level. With the amount of depth in the our system now, a lottery ticket like Tate makes a lot of sense.
This is also an excellent trade for the Rangers. Beltran has been incredible this year and is one of the best postseason hitters of all time. This is one of those trades that will truly bear fruit in the playoffs.
Couldn't agree more, I think the rangers just know they missed on Tate in the draft and trying to sell on him.
Good move for the Yankees, literally does nothing bad for the rangers.
@schwarber yes we need pitching but I guarantee you Dillon Tate wasn't netting us any type of tier 2/3 pitcher with the market value of starters right now.
