Tate had a 6 ERA in class A ball and his stuff has gotten worse this year. It's not terrible for a win now team.

We don't need Tate.

And Gallo sucks

There was no reason the Rangers had any need to address the offense unless they have something planned to send profar and Gallo for Sale.

They needed a pitcher not another hitter.

Giants still going after Matt Moore. No idea who we'd give up at this point, considering TB denied a Moore trade to Texas even with Gallo as the offer. If we give up Arroyo and Beede for Moore, I'd flip my shit.

While the price to pay was high, we're undoubtedly better with Smith and Eduardo Nunez.

Tate has been pitching through a leg injury that sapped some of his stuff. He would have been untouchable if he had been pitching healthy and to his talent level. With the amount of depth in the our system now, a lottery ticket like Tate makes a lot of sense.

This is also an excellent trade for the Rangers. Beltran has been incredible this year and is one of the best postseason hitters of all time. This is one of those trades that will truly bear fruit in the playoffs.

Couldn't agree more, I think the rangers just know they missed on Tate in the draft and trying to sell on him.

Good move for the Yankees, literally does nothing bad for the rangers.

@schwarber yes we need pitching but I guarantee you Dillon Tate wasn't netting us any type of tier 2/3 pitcher with the market value of starters right now.

Source: Joey Gallo would be centerpiece of the package going back to Milwaukee if Jonathan Lucroy deal is completed. Been talking for days.

The Rangers have agreed to a deal with the Brewers to land star catcher Jonathan Lucroy, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). There’s a reliever going in the deal, too, with top prospects Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz headed to Milwaukee, per MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan (via Twitter).
