whether he's worth it or not, this is the state of the market. Anybody would have had to pay 30 million to get him.
Realistically this is not a 7 year contract. He'll be gone before year 5.

his career stats in fenway are better than anywhere else hes started more than 2 games (6-1, 1.95 era, 11 GS, 2 CG, 74 IP)
but i dont see that holding up past 1 or 2 seasons, hes going to eventually get killed by rightys there.

you really think so? he'll be 33 by the time he can opt out... hes gonna have to be epic in boston to opt out of that contract and expect more than $32m annually.

edit: and i dont see him having any greinke like seasons to build his stock being in the AL East, or the AL period for that matter.
