Feel so much better about the team going into next season with Tanaka in the fold.

1. HIROK
2. CC
3. Tanaka
4. Nova
5. Pineda/Phelps/Warren/Nuno/Huff

looks so much better than

1. HIROK
2. CC
3. Nova
4. Phelps
5. Pineda/Warren/Nuno/Huff

Not to mention, this gives us the option of using the losers of the 5th starter competition in the bullpen where guys like Phelps and Warren have had success.

I'm happy you're happy.

Hirok won't be 1 over CC...

lol

Yes Hirok had a better season but it doesn't matter, it's CC's spot.

HIROK is definitely the ace of the team right now. Sure CC will throw out opening day but I bet you if the playoffs started on day 1, it would be HIROK with the ball.

CC had one bad season with the Yankees and everyone jumps ship on him?

Did you see Hirok's drop-off last season?

CC is still the ace of the staff, wouldn't be surprised if the velocity problems he had last year are better.

I'm not jumping ship lol. Still, HIROK has had two seasons better than CC not just last year and HIROK was much more reliable in the playoffs in 2012.

I'd like to think that CC is going to bounce back too but there's no way I would take him over HIROK in a 1 game playoff right now.

I love Hirok but it depends on the situation, if everyone had their best stuff, I'd even throw Nova in there hypothetically speaking as 1.

But if CC can bounce back to 93-95, I'd take CC in a heartbeat.

Anyway, I was off-topic, anxious to see how good Tanaka will be.

Main pitches? Does he have Darvish potential?

Tanaka throws about 7 pitches but his main pitches are the fastball(sits 92-93 can dial it up to 98), split(plus plus pitch), and slider(plus pitch) just like most Japanese hurlers. So yes, his raw stuff is very elite. The only problem is that his fastball is a bit flat and doesn't miss as many bats as it should with that kind of velocity. Rothschild has a history of improving pitchers' strikeout rates so it will be interesting to see how he looks after a little coaching. Ultimately, how his fastball translates in the MLB will be the deciding factor between him being a front of the rotation guy or a middle of the rotation guy.

Starting to feel a lot more confident with that rotation.

You know the offense will be there (knocks on wood about health of Jeter/Teix) but I can see that offense putting up monster numbers.

Speed and power in the offense.

Yeah, I felt a lot better about the offense once we acquired Beltran.

Don't really feel great about the infield, but Scott Sizemore was a nice little under-the-radar move that gives us some protection once Roberts inevitably goes down with an injury allowing us to shift KJ to 2B.
