It means little if the Yankees plan to compete next season. Is it stands, the payroll is about ~$160-170mm without A-Rod. Adding Tanaka alone will push the payroll close, if not over, the $189 mark. Then they still need to add a 3B, a reliever(or three), and hopefully another starter. I think the only way we stay under $189 is if we whiff on Tanaka. I can see them going dumpster diving to fill out the rest of the roster in that case because there simply isn't much impact talent left out there.

Gonna get Todd Frazier and Chapman for Godner + Williams or some shit.

I'd strongly consider that trade.

You don't want Williams lol. His development has gone backwards the last couple years and he's become sort of a headcase.

I'd say the most appealing prospects we have at the moment are Gary Sanchez, JR Murphy, and maybe Manny Banuelos depending on how he looks in ST now that he's fully recovered from TJS. Only thing is that 2 out of those 3 are catchers and the Reds aren't exactly hurting in that department.
