Moss steals second base. Freakin' A's trying to score a garbage time run.

Alberto Callaspo RBI single into left center. 5-1 Astros in the top of 9th.

Collon McHugh could not complete a complete game 1-hit shutout. That sucks. Bo Porter making a pitching change.

McHugh threw 114 pitches. Two hits allowed. 1 run. 7 Ks. We still need one more out for the win.

Well hopefully it's only one run allowed. Callaspo on first base is his responsibility if he ends up scoring.

The Moss hit by pitch was weak. The ball barely grazed his back foot and he purposedly left it out to be hit. Made no attempt to move out of the way.

Raul Valdes came into the game. He got Craig Gentry to fly out to Fowler in center field.

Astros win 5-1. They won two games in a row against the Athletics.

Collin McHugh's first two starts with the Astros: 15.1 innings pitched, 19 Ks with 3 BBs. 2-0 record with an 0.59 ERA
I don't know how long he'll keep it up but I hope he can have another nice start next weekend against Seattle.
Scott Feldman is coming off the 15-day DL pretty soon. Hopefully we can send Brad Peacock back to the minors.

The Astros have Monday off tomorrow. They play two games at home against the Nationals on Tuesday and Wednesday. They have another off day on Thursday, and then they host Seattle for three games at Minute Maid Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Unless they re-shuffle their starting rotation with the two off days coming up, Collin McHugh is set to make his third start in 2014 against Chris Young and the Mariners next Sunday afternoon. A full seven days to rest for him. He may need it after throwing 114 pitches today.

I really hope he can turn into a success story and not another journeyman. He briefly pitched for the Mets and Rockies in 2012 and 2013. Neither team gave him much of a chance. He's been in the minor leagues for most of his pro career since 2008. He's 26 years old. Maybe he "figured it out" and is a late bloomer?

I remember back in 2005 when a 26-year-old Cliff Lee took the baseball world by surprise after struggling with his pro career before that. I'm not saying he's going to be another Cliff Lee - he's right handed and not a lefty anyways - just pointing out a rare example of a guy who is 26 years old who becomes a good pitcher. It's never too late to have a successful MLB career.

There is no exact science to becoming a good starting pitcher in the Major Leagues. Some guys can flourish as a youngster while others take some time to develop. His changeup is really good and he has excellent command for the most part. We can draft all the starting pitchers we want with the first overall pick, draft after draft, or you can find a guy nobody wants off waivers. I don't care where the Astros find talent as long as they end up with it.

The Astros are trying to win three games in a row for the first time this season later tonight against the Nationals.

Jarred Cosart versus Gio Gonzalez. It should be a good game tonight. Keep showing good effort and good things will happen.
