Mets shortstop prospect and Savannah Sand Gnat Luis Guillorme has been named the most valuable player of the South Atlantic League. He is currently leading the league in batting average at .314. He also leads the league in hits with 136 and is fourth with his .386 on-base percentage.

The Mets drafted him in the 10th round in 2013 Coral Springs Charter High School in Florida. He was touted as a defensive wiz with limited offensive potential. Overall this year he is hitting .314/.386/.346 with 14 doubles, 55 RBI, 64 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases in 117 games. All while playing a gold glove caliber shortstop for the best team in the league that has only lost once since August 2nd.

He recently jumped into the Mets Top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline when Matt Koch was traded. Guillorme was my number #25 Mets prospect when I did my midseason list recently.

Wuilmer Becerra was named to the end of year South Atlantic League All-Star team after batting .295/.349/.436 with 27 doubles, three triples, nine homeruns, 59 RBI, 15 stolen base and 65 runs scored in 112 games. He was also a postseason All-Star last season in the Appalachian League for the Kingsport Mets.

Savannah Manager Jose Leger was also named to the All-Star team. He was recently named the best manager prospect in the league when Baseball America polled his fellow coaches and managers.

From MMO.

My thoughts?

Dickey trade only looking better by the day.. D'Arnaud, Syndergaard, and Becerra, who Jose Leger has said has stepped up his game from leaps and bounds, and his potential is only surgacing.

Wow.

Our SS with the addition of Cechini who was also named the ROY, is only going to be stacked...

Not to mention Tovar has been impressing scouts with his quick hitting stroke, but his defense of course is way above average.

To be honest, our pitching has seemed to hit a lull recently. But, every single game/series where we don't lose ground is a victory at this point.

looks like the cardinals are trying to let washington win a game or 2 this series, but the nats just dont want it.

starting 2 AAA pitchers, bringing in our AAA bullpen, continually pitching to zimmerman even with an open base in a tie game, letting broxton pitch  , and letting guys like tony cruz and greg garcia get starts and hit late in games.

apparently we want the nl east to stay somewhat interesting.
