There's no market for him, on top of having a draft pick attached to him. Clearly nobody has stepped up so far and offered him something so why would the Jays jump out and offer him more than the offer he declined, when it could be the best offer he gets all winter?

EE declined 4/80 and look what happened.. Why should Bautista get more than 1/17 when nobody else is offering it?

i dont understand what makes it illogical.

yes, hes had some injuries lately, yes hes getting old. but thats not what he turned down. he turned down that to go after a 3-5 yr deal elsewhere, which no one is willing to give.

theres very little risk here. its a 1 year deal for a guy who will probably be worth it and then some. if the jays are out of it, hes a valuable trade piece. if the jays are in it, he probably has something to do with it.

and if his numbers slip, its only 1 year. theres no commitment here. very very little risk for the jays for a solid reward.
