Seriously hope we become sellers at the deadline. Going to be impossible to become contenders unless they deal for a real impact bat and there just isn't that type of player on the market right now. Someone that's appealing like Schierholtz won't turn one of the worst offenses into baseball to even an average one. Jeter and A-Rod have already proved you can't count on either of them to save the offense and Grandy is still quite a while away.

Seeing how much the Cubs got for Garza shows that it's an extreme sellers market. Maybe you can convince HIROK to waive his no-trade clause and get a similar return.
You know there will be suitors for Robbie and he'll fetch a couple blue-chip prospects.
K-Rob would be a nice piece for just about any team especially one that just lost its closer(*cough* Pirats *cough*).
Hughes stands to benefit big-time from a move to a bigger ballpark and could also appeal as a reliever with his history of domination in that role.

Those are the only really valuable pieces the Yankees have to deal but the return would have serious implications of the future of the team(especially with the austerity budget).

Just as I wrote this, we are close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano. Half a season too late. But hey-- Vernon Wells!

EDIT: It's an upgrade, sure, but you still need a full-time C, a RHB 1B, and a 3B. If this is the only move we end up making, then Cash shouldn't have bothered.

Yeah, no way we look to trade Robbie, he's the future of the franchise...

Pujols was the future of the Cardinals and they seem to be doing just fine.

I'd unload everyone but Robbie at this point, you would be alright with letting Cano leave?

Cano is my favorite player in the world but there comes a point where this team has to stop giving out giant albatross contracts to players on the wrong side of 30.

jajaja

If Cano resigns in the neighborhood of $125mm over 5 years, I'd be ecstatic. But everything so far indicates he's going to be the next $200mm player.
People were excited when Cano dropped Boras in favor of Jay-Z thinking Jay-Z would convince Cano to take some sort of hometown discount but I laugh at that. Jay-Z is going to squeeze every penny out every team that bids for him because he wants to establish a big name for his agency.

Yeah, come to think of it, CC is looking like shit, Teix is shit, A-Rod is fucked for life, Jeter I still believe will come back strong, he just has that demeanor.

If we trade Robbie, I'd want some serious beast prospects.
