Sixers is incapable of looking at the bigger.picture. Dude gets crazy tunnel vision. He just assumes Sanchez is going 7 innings 0 ers everytime he pitches cuz hes doing well in the regular season. Playoffs is a completely different animal.

Yeah I mean he has the stuff to be dominant, but I don't feel great without wheeler.

You're truly overthinking your response here

Obviously Wheeler is that guy and hes one of the more dominant postseason pitchers, statistically, in modern baseball history. His loss hurts their world series hopes BIG TIME. They aren't favorites so its dog mentality come October anyway.

But if any team could handle losing their ace as well as possible, the Phillies are certainly at the top of the list. You lose one Cy Young contender....yet you still have another right there. This is one of the best rotations in baseball, so its not the end all despite how much it hurts losing Wheels. The offense being consistent will still be the major X-factor.

Btw...Ranger Suarez has looked outstanding his last 2 starts. A career day in his last start. That's great to see, and he is a big time playoff pitcher too.

Is the Phillies signing Sanchez to a 4 year / $22M contract last year one of the best signings ever? You better believe it.

Paying him less than $6M a year to be a top 5 pitcher in baseball lmfao. What a deal.

Sanchez, 27, wouldn't have been eligible for arbitration until 2026

why do i always fall for your disgusting bait posts?

In what world did I suggest it was a FA signing? Lolwut

They locked him up long term just before he had a Cy Young caliber season. Amazing win. If they had waited he'd be getting so much more it's not even funny....

At no point did anyone say anything about free agency though lol. It doesn't need to be a FA signing to be one of the best contracts ever. They traded for him back in 2019 for peanuts, because he wasn't on any top prospect list. They then developed him, and then locked him up long term for like $5-6M a year. Now he's one of the better pitchers in baseball.

the contract just covers his arbitration years
he has option years that are much more in line with typical free agent pitcher salaries

this year is not an arbitration year and he is making 2 million
year 1 3.5 m
year 2 6.5 m
year 3 9.5 m

2 option years for 14m and 15m that can escalate to 15m and 19m based on performance

Paul Skenes is making 875k this year, making his contract the greatest in history!!!!!
