UPDATE: The Marlins have expressed interest in Young, reports FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. The Fish could be looking for an everyday second baseman, and/or some insurance at third base in case prospect Matt Dominguez shows he's not ready with the bat. Young has the Marlins on his no-trade list, which means he'd have to waive the clause for any deal to be possible between Texas and Florida.

Nick Cafardo wrote in Sunday's Boston Globe that Oakland makes sense because the Athletics can offer some of their pitching surplus. The problem would be a reluctance to trade Young to a team in the same division.

Each one of their starters have ERAs that are average at best away from home. I won't be too optimistic of them. Not putting them down or anything but I don't think they are a that much of an upgrade of the current Rangers rotation which clearly must have done something right to make it to the WS

Tommy Hunter over-achieved like crazy last year, but he was an inning-eater. Holland still hasn't blossomed and i'm not sure if he will. the main thing we need is pitching depth while waiting on our young arms (Perez, etc.)

I agree. Would you agree that Texas maybe needs one more elite arm for the starting role and an additional setup man?
Those playoff bullpen performances were just a facepalm. Lost so much fg and raged due to it
I think O'Day may not have a season close to what he did before (Thats just my input). It is not like O'Day has any out pitch, it seems like its just the delivery that is what made him have a great year. What do you think?

definitely. hope we go for a quality starter mid-season and losing Franky to you guys was a little blow to the pen. That cemented Feliz in the closer role and won't let him have a chance as a starter this year. O'Day is my boy, i still remember his first game as a Ranger up in Toronto, walking on the field with someone elses uniform (lol). but yeah, O'Day/Rhodes/Ogando/Oliver/Strop for our pen give or take a few. we could use some more arms there too.

I'd love some A's young pitching, but would really hate to deal Young out within the division :|

He came up as a starter through the minors.
