Because you're closer in the World Series to get a ring and is less painful to lose earlier than when you're a few games from a ring.

I agree with you, even though it probably sounds stupid to some people.

I can understand to be honest why it sounds stupid, it's hard to put in words but losing in the World Series hurts more than going out earlier in the playoffs. That's just me.
