Dexter Fowler is becoming the team MVP. His leadership is off the charts.

Marc Krauss grounded into a double play with the bases loaded and one out. Come on Bo Porter. Why not have Jesus Guzman at first base? He hits a two-run homer on opening day and hasn't started since. Krauss isn't any good and has shown me very little both in the field and hitting wise. I'd rather send him back to the minors or release him. Even Jonathan Singleton is better and is still stuck in the minor leagues.

1-0 Astros after 1 inning. They had a chance to strike big and failed. Jeez. The Astros are frustrating because they hold good players back.

George Springer, Mark Appel and Jonathan Singleton are pro ready, IMO.

At the very least start your best players, Bo Porter.

Marc Krauss is horrible. Just cut off a perfect throw to home plate that would have had the runner dead to rights.
Instead the Yankees take a 3-1 lead. Offensively and defensively, he does nothing right to warrant starting at first base.

Adda boy Dexter Fowler. RBI single. Two hits in each of the first three games.

3-2 Yankees in the bottom of the 5th. Don't give up Astros...

Sigh. Chris Carter grounded out with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs.
A double play by Castro really hurt a few batters earlier. Marc Krauss' play also.
Astros have blown many chances in this game. It's amazing they are down one.

Scott Feldman is pitching like an ace. I wish we'd call up Mark Appel. Both Lucas Harrell and Dallas Keuchel are a waste at the back-end of the rotation. At least for now the Astros will have a chance to compete every three out of five games when Feldman, Cosart and Olberholtzer pitch. It may be enough to avoid losing 100 games a fourth straight year if they can all stay healthy. Dexter Fowler hasn't played in this series with a stomach virus. Looks like we can take one against the Angels today and reach 3-3. Maybe split this four-game series if Cosart pitches another shutout tomorrow.

The way Jered Weaver is pitching I think it is. He's given up three home runs already to Castro, Dominguez and Guzman.

We need Dexter Fowler back and maybe call up George Springer and Mark Appel soon.
I'd like to see the Astros flirt with a .500 record at least until the summertime starts.
Jesse Crain returning will be a huge boost for the bullpen in late April or early May.
Huge game tomorrow night. Jarred Cosart has a chance to pitch the Astros to 4-3

Scott Feldman is 2-0 with an 0.66 ERA. Both wins against good lineups in the Yankees and Angels. I hope this is not just an early season fluke with him. He's pitching like a real ace at 31 years old. He's not a high strikeout guy (4 Ks, 4 BBs) but his batting average against is .111.

Feldman is a high volume groundball pitcher just like Jarred Cosart is. And Cosart is trying to reach 2-0 tomorrow night. His ERA is 0.00 (3 Ks, 0 BBs) and a .211 batting average against after his first start this season against the Yankees. When you can keep the ball on the ground that usually wins if you have a good defensive infield. I really like our top two in the starting rotation. You don't have to rack up a lot of strikeouts to be effective.

A lot of ball clubs in the American League are stacked with power hitters and it's a nice change of pace when you have a starting pitcher which is among the best in fewest home runs allowed and can generally keep the outs on the ground. Trout, Pujols and Hamilton went a combined 1-for-9 today. The Angels scored three runs off our bullpen in the ninth inning but the Astros held on to win 7-4.

Outs are outs, in my opinion. But that is why I'm so excited about Mark Appel down the road. He's more of a traditional ace who can pile up the strikeouts.
