im not saying they had a deal 100% ready for a pitcher when they made a move for tulo. i just feel very confident that when the tulo deal went through, the blue jays were gonna do everything they can to get themselves a big name pitcher, even if it means giving up a prospect like norris. once the rockies said yes, the blue jays were all in for this season.
if they wouldve made a move for tulo and then not followed up with any rotational upgrade, it wouldve been a huge mistake.

You don't go after Tulo without trying to go after Hamels, Price, or any of the good free agent pitchers that were on the trade block.
Going after Tulo pretty much said they were going for it this year. Giving up Norris was tough, but how many teams can honestly win the world series twice in a row, let alone once?
If you got a chance to win, you go for it any time.
