Matt Albers. Jeez. I want some relievers to step up.

Leadoff double for Carlos Beltran in the top of the 8th. A good thing the Astros added that insurance run.

But one swing of the bat can tie it up now.

Matt Albers struck out Brian McCann, Mark Teixeira and Alfonso Soriano in a row to strike out the side.

Boom, boom, boom!!! Nice work after the leadoff double by Carlos Beltran.

Astros lead 3-1 in the middle of the 8th

Astros have been batting in the bottom of the 8th for 20 minutes. Still haven't scored. Bases loaded, two outs for Carlos Coporan, who is pinch-hitting for Chris Carter. Yankees made another pitching change. LOL, I just wanted to go to the top of the ninth and get a 1-2-3 from the closer by committee - whoever it is - and win already.

Carlos Corporan grounded out after all of that. Sigh... 3-1 Astros after 8 innings.

Bo Porter should have just left Chris Carter in there. He either hits a grand slam or strikes out in that situation.

Oh brother, Josh Fields is coming into the game to attempt the save for the Astros... Please hurry back, Jesse Crain

Already one out. Brett Gardner hit a soft liner that was caught in the infield.
Two outs. Brian Roberts struck out. Can Josh Fields nail this save down this easy? One more!!!!

Yangervis Solarte popped up. LOL. Josh Fields may become our closer. Who knows.

Astros win 3-1. They beat the Yankees again!!!

2-0 record in 2014. Bring out the brooms tomorrow night. Brett Oberholtzer is one of our best young pitchers. I think the Astros will be 3-0

I want to see more of Jesus Guzman starting at first base. Not just against lefties.
I'd like to see what he can do with 500+ ABs this year or until Singleton is called up.

Marc Krauss started at first base last night but he doesn't have Guzman's experience.
The Astros lineup for tonight's game haven't been released yet but should be shortly.

MLB.com's official youtube channel is just now adding the highlights from April 1. They won't have last night's plays until tomorrow. I still want George Springer called up and starting in right field. L.J. Hoes took advantage of the short porch in left field and Sabathia's belt-high meatballs. Springer is losing out on valuable MLB experience by starting another season in the minor leagues. He has nothing left to show down there.

The lineup for tonight's game.

1. Dexter Fowler (S) CF
2. Robbie Grossman (S) LF
3. Jason Castro (L) C
4. Jose Altuve (R) 2B
5. Chris Carter (R) DH
6. Marc Krauss (L) 1B
7. Matt Dominguez (R) 3B
8. Alex Presley (L) RF
9. Jonathan Villar (S) SS

Ideally, I'd like to see Jesus Guzman at first base and George Springer in right field once he's called up. He could hit third in the lineup and yet the franchise is pampering him beyond words thinking he's not ready for the big leagues. Robbie Grossman is off to a slow start. I hope he can get it going or else Bo Porter will have to move him farther down in the batting order. I want to see guys like Marc Krauss and Alex Presley prove me wrong. Show me they are good players.

They don't 'think he's not ready for the big leagues', they are being cheap fucks and keeping him in the minors for a couple months to gain an extra year of team control. Springer has absolutely nothing left to prove in the minors.

Maybe but I don't see money being an issue with the Astros. They have tried to spend big this past off-season. They came up with the second highest bids for that Cuban first baseman the White Sox signed and the Japanese pitcher the Yankees signed.

If a lot of their highly touted prospects pan out they will be forced to have a payroll of about $130 million in five or six years from now. It's at $46 million right now. They were around $100 million in 2005 when they reached the World Series. It takes money to win and it would be naive of Astros owner Jim Crane not to pony up the big bucks when the time is right.
