Maybe but I don't see money being an issue with the Astros. They have tried to spend big this past off-season. They came up with the second highest bids for that Cuban first baseman the White Sox signed and the Japanese pitcher the Yankees signed.
If a lot of their highly touted prospects pan out they will be forced to have a payroll of about $130 million in five or six years from now. It's at $46 million right now. They were around $100 million in 2005 when they reached the World Series. It takes money to win and it would be naive of Astros owner Jim Crane not to pony up the big bucks when the time is right.
