The Rangers are losing farm director Scott Servais, who has been with the club since November 2005 and was one of general manager Jon Daniels' first hires.

Servais agreed to terms to become the Angels' assistant general manager in charge of scouting and player development. He has a strong relationship with Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto. They both played together in Colorado and were members of the Rockies' front office in 2005 before Servais was hired by the Rangers.

"Mixed emotions as we will miss him here, but excited for him taking on this new challenge," Daniels said. "Scott's been a big part of our success, not just on the development side, but overall. He's a good friend and a talented baseball man. Fortunately, he helped put together an outstanding staff, so we're confident others will step up and we won't miss a beat. Our commitment to scouting and development does not change."

Well that sucks rolf. Had to go to a rival.

"We're in a good situation," Maddux says of his Ranger job. "My family moved here, the kids will be in school for 3 more years here."

Maddux is staying :)

Rangers manager Ron Washington will have his entire coaching staff back next season after pitching coach Mike Maddux was passed over by the Cubs. He interviewed for their managerial opening, but the Cubs hired Dale Sveum instead.

"We didn't want to lose him, but we didn't want to stand in his way either," Washington said. "The Cubs made a decision, and so far going into 2012 that's one good thing that has happened for the Texas Rangers."

Ewok already posted this one, but..

Joe Nathan, the Twins' all-time saves leader, has agreed to a two-year, $14.5 million deal with the AL champion Texas Rangers.

The deal includes a team option for 2014.

The Rangers also informed their closer of the last two years, Neftali Feliz, that he will be moving into the starting rotation. The right-hander saved 72 games in 2010-11, winning the 2010 AL Rookie of the Year Award.

Feliz our new Ace? B)

About time they put Neftali in the rotation. He throws an effortless 98mph that always bode well for the rotation. I hope the Yankees follow suit and try the same with Joba.

Yeah Joba really got time to become comfortable in a starters role.

That stretch after the ASB was pretty insane.

Winter meetings over and still issues needed to be addressed:

with Oliver and Gonzalez both being free agents, we have no left-handed relievers
CJ leaving puts us without an ace (even tho he wasn't an ace in my book to begin with)

they are talking with Gonzalez's agent already, and it seems the left-handed reliever market is pretty thin this year, so he might be the best bet
they should be bidding strong for Darvish next week, but i hope they don't go overboard pursuing him. Also, talks with the Cubs for Garza and Oakland for Gio are underway, even tho the asking price for them is pretty high right now.

I hope they give Leonys Martin a legitimate shot for the CF spot in spring training, instead of platooning something like Gentry/______
