Iannetta is so underrated, better not trade him to the Angels -_-

Quote
The Rockies are exploring signing catcher Ramon Hernandez and the Angels like Chris Iannetta, writes Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.  However, a Rosenthal source describes the discussion between the two teams involving Iannetta as "just conversation (that) never got real far."  Iannetta, 28, has more value to the Rockies than any other team, because he can void his 2013 club option if traded.

Likely opening day roster as of now:

SP: Jhoulys Chacin
SP: Kevin Millwood
SP:Jason Hammel
SP: Drew Pomeranz
SP: Alex White

^ No way that'll be final. Plus Nicasio + JDLR will come back early-mid season.

C: Chris Iannetta/Wilin Rosario
1B: Todd Helton
2B: Chris Nelson/Johnathan Herrera (or Eric Young Jr. aka probably the worst 2B situation in beisbol)
3B: Brandon Wood (or Ian Stewart)/Jordan Pacheco
SS: Troy Tulowitzki
LF: Seth Smith/Charlie Blackmon
CF: Dexter Fowler
RF: Carlos Gonzalez

Bullpen:
CL: Rafael Betancourt (99% chance Street gets traded)
SU: Rex Brothers/Matt Lindstrom/Matt Belisle (Tracy probably going to mix/match here)
Esmil Rogers
Matt Reynolds

Bench:
Jonathan Herrera
Jordan Pacheco
Charlie Blackmon
Wilin Rosario
Ryan Spillborghs
Jason Giambi

Looks like a <.500 team in the making lul. It'd be better if Rosario started the year in AAA, but Iannetta is always platooned with somebody and the only player capable of catching on the 40-man is Pacheco. Maybe Ramon Hernandez would actually be a decent signing lol.

No Nolan Arenado? -- May be a long shot for opening day, but..

Nah, September call-up at best. He hasn't even played higher than High-A yet unless you count the AFL. Plus he needs major work on his defense lol (strong arm but his range is pretty below average)

i hate hammel i wish we would trade him away already

i think herrera could do really well at 2b if he just gets the starting job all season

still a year or two away from getting back into the playoffs imo :/ if not more lol

I'd like to see a trade to bring Jeff Francis back tbh. At the very least he can provide some semi-good quality innings.

But yeah, unless something major is done about the rotation and the offense can not be shit this year, then the playoffs are probably out of question. Though with the new wild card format, you never know.

Rockies like Tyler Chatwood in return for Iannetta.

Don't really know anything about him other than Fangraphs and Baseball America ranking him as #4 and #2 (respectively) prospect with the Angels last year. And that he's got a mid-90s FB and + curveball. Also had very high ground ball rates in the minors, but average GB% last year in the majors. Which could work well in Coors. Maybe Sim can chime in

From what I've read it seems like it'd be a steal for Colorado :P.

1. Drew Pomeranz, rhp
2. Nolan Arenado, 3b
3. Chad Bettis, rhp
4. Wilin Rosario, c
5. Tim Wheeler, of
6. Trevor Story, ss/3b
7. Tyler Anderson, lhp
8. Kent Matthes, of
9. Kyle Parker, of
10. Josh Rutledge, ss

Oh lul, Matzek not even in the top 10 anymore. :( Oh well, that was still a rape draft year. Arenado/Wheeler/Friedrich (although I don't think too highly of him anymore)/Rex Brothers (<3)/etc

Nice to see Bettis finally getting some recognition though. Kid has been lights out for 2 years now. Loved the Story pick last year, hated the Anderson one. Funny how that works out huh.
