Depends what they do with the payroll. Especially if they are going to sign grandy and cano but want to maintain the 180m budget by 2014

Obviously. They are going to be dishing out a lot of money to him is what I was saying, and I dunno what they are doing about Grandy and what kind of money they are willing to give him.

As much as I love Granderson, he strikes out way too much for my liking.
His defense has slipped, his speed has slipped, and the majority of his home runs were solo shots.

I'm so scared of the contract that Cano is eventually going to get. Based on what Kinsler and Phillips got, he should be looking at 6/$120mil. But the Yankees are going to overpay as usual and end up giving him 8/$180mil and be stuck with another albatross contract for a players decline years.

Anyways, as far as the OF situation goes, I'm all aboard the BJ Upton wagon. He's still young(28) and if you can get him for something like 5/$60-75mil, I'd be all for it. You'd be paying for his prime years and his power continues to spike up so you have a chance to get a real steal. And then is 2014, you can let Granderson walk(love Grandy but really don't want to imagine the contract he might demand and again it would be for his decline years) and have Tyler Austin or Mason Williams ready to take over fulltime duty. If they go by that plan, they can easily make the austerity budget AND have money left over for a premium arm next year or the year after(I believe they have to meet the austerity budget for 2 years to reset the luxury tax).
