Trevor Crowe's RBI single in the bottom of the 9th gave the Astros a 6-5 win over the Twins.

The race for the first overall pick in 2014

1. Astros 46-93
2. Marlins 52-86

The Astros lost two out of three games against the Twins while the Marlins won two out of three games against the Cubs. We start a tough four-game series at Oakland tomorrow night. I think we'll get swept in these four games or at least lose three out of four games at best.

Seven more losses and we only have 23 games left to play. We're about to clinch the top pick soon!

Getting down to the wire and we have the first overall pick just about all locked up. Carlos Rodon is going to warrant a hefty contract and signing bonus once we draft him in June - larger than what Mark Appel and Carlos Correa received as the top pick the past two years. But when you have a $13 million payroll and a team profit of nearly $100 million this year, splurging on draft picks, especially the number one overall pick, isn't really an issue.

By the way, that was some double play the other night. It's too bad we couldn't turn a triple play with all the confusion going on.

Mastroianni the Magician. Loses his belt and then replaces it. That reliever should pick up the assist.

Bo Porter for the most excited manager of the year

LMAO. Every time we win a game it seems like we're celebrating like it's Game 7 of the World Series. Yeah buddy!

Another game closer to Mr. Lefty Ace, NC State workhorse and Team USA pitching phenom, Carlos Rodon.

23 games is nothing. Let's finish this four-game series at Oakland with 97 losses so we can be down to 19 games left.

Athletics score two runs in the bottom of the 8th but the Astros win 3-2

RBI singles by Chris Carter and Jose Altuve, who later scored himself off an error, is all the Astros needed.
Brad Peacock surprisingly pitched seven strong innings, 2 earned runs on 5 hits, with 9 strikeouts.
Kevin Chapman, Jorge De Leon and Josh Fields gave up no runs in relief which is a rarity for the bullpen.

1. Astros 47-93
2. Marlins 52-86

We still have seven more losses than the Marlins, who had an off day on Thursday, and we only have 22 games left.
Just one of those rare wins by the Astros (2 wins in a row) but we're still going to clinch the first pick soon enough.
I'm not too worried. The Athletics will be pissed now and should win the next three games of this four-game series.

I thought I saw Josh Donaldson trying to kick the ball away last night. Would have been funny if he succeeded.

Josh Donaldson's two-run homer in the bottom of the 6th was the difference in a 7-5 Athletics win on Friday Night

1. Astros 47-94
2. Marlins 53-86
3. White Sox 56-84

Athletics beat the Astros 7-5 while Jose Fernandez and the Marlins beat the Nationals 7-0. Meanwhile, the White Sox have lost 8 games in a row to sort of play their way back into the discussion but they're still too far behind the Astros to worry about. The White Sox may catch the Marlins for the second overall pick in the 2014 MLB draft.

The Astros have a comfortable 8 more losses with only 21 games left to play.

We're getting closer to the end. We can actually afford to win a game or two down the stretch. We're likely going to lose close to 110 games total. Which if my calculations are correct, it's going to be impossible for the Marlins or White Sox to finish with a worse record than us. Our remaining schedule is the toughest of the three teams as well.

Yeah. They didn't call him up the way it looks. He'll be on the Oklahoma City Redhawks playoff roster.

Things are starting to get dicey down the stretch. We just need to finish these easy games against the Mariners and Angels and we'll be alright.
