He went for the guaranteed $330M instead of risking it by taking $180M and hoping he's worth another massive deal at 30. Can't say I disagree.

$330M in earnings over the next 13 years before you even turn 40 years old isn't a bad life lol.

Eh, that's how it works. You have to deal with back end risk to get a player of his caliber. Guys of his caliber are getting 10+ years in FA now.

The next 10 years (he would only be 33 at that point) should make it worth it. Phillies have loaded up this offseason.

are they just okay with his defensive liability?

don't they need pitching depth?
