Not saying he's the next big thing, because Hector Neris could (our likely future closer) end up stealing the closer role lol. Wouldn't surprise anyone if Gomez gets traded at some point this year for further prospects considering the high prices for closers..
Neris has been filthy this season himself, 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 28 K's and just 6 BB's in 20 Innings. Definitely has closer stuff and could very well be our closer by seasons end. But for now, Gomez is getting the job done very well and that's that.
