It's not an overall improvement on what is already on the field; Murphy is a great hitter but is limited to 2nd defensively and he's terrible there. With that said; it gives the Cubs a proven vet that can still rake with the best of them. Biggest thing to me is it gives them a guy that can hit situationally in the playoffs; which is HUGE. Unfortunately, the defense gets worse.

Just my guess at the lineup when the playoffs come around (assuming and hopefully they make it):

Rizzo - 1b
Murphy - 2B
Bryant - 3B
Zobrist - RF
Schwarber -LF
Baez - SS
Contreras - C
P
Almora/Heyward - CF

Russell/Happ/the other half of the CF platoon all sit on bench.

None of this matters because Maddon throws everyone's name in a hat to decide the lineup every game and it's never the same but this lineup would be perfect.

They've played the best Baseball all year with Rizzo hitting 1st. To me it's a perfect lineup. Murphy is the ideal two hole hitter with Rizzo on 1st because you know he's not going to strike out.

It'll be interesting to see who's on the playoff roster. I think Happ's the odd man out. I'd rather have La Stella over him.

Assuming they go 14 hitters (6 on bench) and 11 pitchers (4 starters, 7 relievers) my guess at the bench will be: Either Almora or Heyward (whichever isn't playing CF), Bote, Russell, Caratini, La Stella, Terrence Gore.
