Are you saying that 7yr/41m is close to 8yrs/100?

because if you are we are talking about 2 different things.

7/41 in 2013 is roughly about 8/100 in 2019, yes absolutely.

In 2012/13 the biggest contracts awarded were 6-7 for 200mil, as opposed to 8-10 for 300-330mil in todays era.

Don't forget Braun's 8/45 was in 2008 after just 1 year, that's roughly the equivalent of 8/120ish in todays era.

Ya they were on TBS all the time, Ted Turner.

Yep that's where I use to watch them to all day. Good memories right there! 👍

That is a valid point, younger players pre-arb have been signing much bigger deals than 5 years ago.

The only contract that I could think of was Longoria's who got paid big money.

I looked up the extensions you named here i what I found.

Longoria 10yrs/100m
Perez 5yrs/52m

These players below aren't close based on what I looked up. The contracts don't include club options just guaranteed money.

Kingery 6yrs/24m
Singleton 5yrs/10m - I honestly don't remember every hearing about this guy.
Moore 5yrs/14m
Anderson 6yrs/26m
Dejong 6yrs/26m
Archer 6yrs/26m

They had Sheffield for a few years in there too along with Chipper, Andrews, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz

Albies should fire his agent. Why the fuck would he sign that contract and give up 4 years of FA. He could have made much more via arbitration than his base salary.

Brandon Lowe got the same money from a tiny ass market in Tampa and gave up less years and isn’t close to what the player/prospect Albies is.

Both Acuna/Albies deals were steals for the Braves.

I know him and Acuna are best buds and they both must like it there but damn they both gave up a ton of future earnings.

Well Acuna Jr is going to be a superstar, some of the players I mentioned are going to be solid everyday guys but nowhere near superstar status.

My main point was that it’s completely normal for teams to get what looks like “steals” off gambling on 2nd year players. It’s nothing new to the sport of baseball, I’ve been watching it happen for years.

The hope is that it’s not fluke like seasons and these guys go bust, because in the long run it’ll save baseball.

Sheff was a straight beast and he did it for do many years. If I'm not mistaken you guys had justice to but he's pretty much played on half teams in the league

Andruw Jones
Andres Gallaraga
Brian Jordan

They were stacked for a while; why they won like 13 straight division titles or w/e it was.

Ya he lost his best years of FA for about 7m a year according to the numbers I've seen. Doesn't make a lot of sense for a guy who has speed part of his game to hit free agency so late. It's definitely a steal. He could even play shortstop for a lot of other teams as well.

That longoria deal was actually 6yr/17m before the big extension. So it wasn't 10yr/100m until later.

I probably got the Perez contract wrong as well. That wasn't a pre-arb contract that I posted earlier.
