He makes 15m this season. Pretty sure the extension starts next year as they are too close to the tax threshold to want to increase his aav this year

E/ the extension is 5/145 with an opt out after 3

Interesting. I had CBS sports radio on while driving and they just said 6/160... was during the half hour update

The bregman deal has me perplexed. Like yea he was a stud last season, and has only played 2 full seasons and is young, but the astros are gonna have a lot of talent to re-sign in the next few years, i dunno if bregman would have been the one to keep over others. But im sure they know what they were doing and wanted to lock him up til hes 30.

The jimenez re-sign was a steal for the wsox

The lowe signing i dunno. Could be a steal, could be wasted money. Hes a year younger than bregman with almost no big league playing time. That one will have to wait and see, and although not a lot of money was invested, the rays are a low budget team so that might hinder them if it doesnt work out.

Wut. The bregman deal is the best one. Less than 20 per and have a young mvp level locked up for 6 years....

yeah, i too thought that was high, especially for his age.

he got slightly exposed in the ALCS last season. Was super good the year they won the WS tho.

I think this deal is the start of the Astros demise.

They cant run 180M payroll. Going to have do something with Altuve and Correa.

Verlander was Horrible when they traded for him, has been exceptional since. But his age, and some other factors just make me think that this deal could backfire, quickly.

Plus, I think Verlander is a dick lol

I mean, the kid hasn't even played a single major league game yet. Idk how we can call it a steal (yet). Yes, he's a stud but the only other two players in MLB history that signed long term contracts before even playing a single game haven't exactly worked out yet (though yes Jiminez is a bigger prospect than both for sure).

Totally agree, but considering the AAV people are getting now to be mediocre, even if he pans out to be as well its still a good deal. Unless he turns out to be an insane bust i like the deal.
