i dont think anyone has said harper wont be decent to good for the next 5 or so seasons
he has a very high ceiling, a top 2-3 offensive player in the league with trout a definite 1 and mookie who id say is 2 or 3 with consistency
but thinking hes going to play out his contract or be anything more than slowing down power hitter after those seasons is stretching it
phillies have a legitimate shot at a title contention, but solely on offensive production.
offense is generally streaky and a bad stretch can really damper a playoff spot, especially in a pretty stacked division where the phillies, mets, braves, and nationals all have pretty solid teams, none of which would be surprising to see win the division
the farm system is still pretty good but a few key pieces were lost for this 2-4 year championship window run
i dont think EmericAn is wrong by saying in 6 years harper is going to be a bum, because i dont believe he will be even a 4 tool player at that age with the speed, range, and defensive woes already becoming prevalent at 26

tl;dr: 1 title would make this contract and all the other signings worth it; anything less imo is a loss and would make this 10 year deal another one to add to the list of bad big contracts.. which are basically all of them
