Scared them into offering the best player in baseball an extension? Lmao keep drinking that Kool-Aid fam.

Not like the deal is even an overpay for him.. I think the plan all along for the Angels FO was to offer an extension this off-season.

They knew if they didn't get him locked in and offer him that unreal contract he was bolting for Philly and going home.

He isn't going to turn down that kind of money being thrown in his face right now though. Who would?

it's not that big a contract when you look at what NBA is giving their superstars

You’re literally just pulling that outta your ass though.. where has he said anything about bolting for Philly? Trout is a rare superstar, especially in this day and age. Kinda like Duncan in a sense.

Just because he’s from there & a die hard Eagles fan doesn’t mean he was going to go to Philly.. keep drinking that Kool-Aid tho!

Trout's 12 year deal worth $430M averages out to $35.8M per year, which puts him right up there with the highest paid NBA players.

With that said, it's certainly more difficult to make it to the NBA than it is NFL, MLB, etc. due to the roster size being MUCH smaller thus creating far more competition (especially for basketball which is huge globally). We know the NFL rosters are massive, but even MLB carries 25 active players per team. NBA teams carry just 12 active players per team..

Well known and it's no secret that Trout would love to play in Philly for the Phillies, he grew up a Phillies fan...a die hard Phillies fan at that (along with his family). Dude was drunk raging out with everyone else in the parking lots in 2008 when they won the world series lmao

Anyways, there's no way he's going to say "nah i'm good" to a record breaking deal like this only to risk injury for the next 1-2 years before testing free agency. Nobody in their right mind would do that. Lock yourself in for $430M and never worry about money again. Playing for your favorite team growing up and being near your family would be great, but not pass up on $430M great lol.

Yes I know, but what are we comparing different sports for anyway?

NBA is growing rapidly, their international growth has been huge and it will continue to grow. Baseball unfortunately can't say the same as it's actually decreased in popularity and seems to be trending the wrong direction.

Neither will go anywhere anytime soon, they're not like the NFL which has so many safety issues to battle against.
