Just because you make millions of dollars, doesn't mean it costs more to raise a kid.

No but the quality of life the kid has shouldn't suffer because you're an abusive asshole either. I have always thought this should be the kids money not the mothers. Give the mother 1000$ a month to pay for the kids needs then the other 10k in a bank account that can't be touched until he's 18, or something like that.

I agree with this. The parent should get money to cover essentials and the rest should set up the childs future. Except in your example, the child would be getting around $120,000/yr... that's too much.

The kid can have an amazing quality of life for 120k/year lol. There is no reason he can't unless the mother is stupid and just wants to live lavishly and not care for her son with the money.

But his dad is a scumbag living lavishly ignoring his son. He would be getting 12k in my example. The rest is set up almost like an inheritance. A way you can support your child and not the mother. She should still have to work to provide, unless the cold is x amount of years old and she needs to be there as a stay at home mom.
