Seems like the failure-rate on those big FA pitchers is a little higher than big-time hitters. I guess it would depend on age, since the prime for a pitcher is usually shorter (they're more prone to injury), whereas a good hitter can be steady until his mid-30s. If you're getting the player's best years and not paying for past production, then it's a good deal.

Like, you've got Arrieta sucking after being a Cy Young winner, Kershaw injured, Price was the big FA pitcher last offseason and he's a disappointment so far. (not saying these as FA signings, just looking at how fragile the position is)

Isn't Kershaw already worth over 5 wins and he went on DL like three weeks ago?

Hes awesome and prob has a 5 or better war right now. Im too lazy to check. When is he expected to return? What have the Dodgers won with the undisputed best pitcher in baseball?

Pitching does win championships though...

Kershaw is just a choke artist.

It does. If both are healthy and the same age with the same contracts ill take Trout long term over Kershaw anyday.

No criticism, just a question. Do you think the Angels would be a playoff contender with Kershaw (healthy) rather than Trout?

Impossible to tell.

Hitter. As many have stated, pitchers have a shorter prime and more injury concerns. Hitters are steadier, assuming were talking about a long term deal.

Not the stupid 12 year contracts teams give out, but a more reasonable length contract could work out
