Seems like the failure-rate on those big FA pitchers is a little higher than big-time hitters. I guess it would depend on age, since the prime for a pitcher is usually shorter (they're more prone to injury), whereas a good hitter can be steady until his mid-30s. If you're getting the player's best years and not paying for past production, then it's a good deal.
Like, you've got Arrieta sucking after being a Cy Young winner, Kershaw injured, Price was the big FA pitcher last offseason and he's a disappointment so far. (not saying these as FA signings, just looking at how fragile the position is)
Isn't Kershaw already worth over 5 wins and he went on DL like three weeks ago?
