lol... took like 3 years.
that was his peak btw..

"breakout" im still lol'ing

Adjusted swing >

He also finally earned a full time job, as before he only played in bits and pieces and was never really given a consistent chance at all (he was only given 187 AB's the season before).

And yes, breakout It's a good start, but he's just tapping into his potential finally (we knew he was super raw before). If the Phillies can just get on base at a half decent rate for him (which they couldn't do this year despite him hitting 80+ RBI's regardless), he'll be an easy 30/100 player next season without a doubt. Could challenge for 40 as long as he doesn't miss like 25 games like he did this season. Might never be the 5 tool stud he was projected to be, but in terms of a power bat he should be every bit as good as projected as a middle of the lineup force.

Regardless, he's a bust no more. It was just a matter of time. B)

Was Dominic Brown really the #1 prospect? Who ranked him there and when?

Yes lol...you don't remember us posting all about it when he was called up?

2010 he was named the #1 prospect in all of baseball according to Baseball America. Was even ahead of Mike Trout.

He was actually offered a scholarship to play college football (Wide Receiver obviously) for Miami. Scouts ended up loving his swing and GREAT athleticism, and the Phillies threw a couple hundred thousand at him up front to get him to play baseball. He was projected as a potential 5 star superstar with a ton of potential.

It wasn't until last year that his swing was adjusted thanks to Joyner, which has allowed him to effectively use all that power. He still sucks at defense (doesn't read plays very well), but his power is without question now rofl.

D.Brown defines the term "late bloomer" but unlike Howard, he's actually in great shape and not a fatty.

You mean 2010 - 2011 off-season?

No, probably top position player prospect? I'm not sure, I know he was #1 though for sure at one point with them. It has been a few years, hard to remember exact details.

He was surpassed in 2011 by Trout & Harper though before he was actually called up (again).

Regardless, it was no secret he was a blue chip prospect and one of the top prospects in the game regardless of whether he was #1 or #4. The Jays wanted him when they dealt Roy Halladay to Philly, but the Phillies refused to move D.Brown. He was absolutely manhandling the minors before he was called up the first time, putting up crazy good numbers (which is what earned him that top ranking).

no he wasnt.

Prospect Ratings by Baseball America:
Pre-2009: Rated #48 Prospect
Pre-2010: Rated #15 Prospect
Pre-2011: Rated #4 Prospect

edit: and the reason why he (brown) was ahead of mike trout in 2009 is because trout was drafted in 09 (at age 17), so he only played 44 games that year. and still cracked the top 100 going into the 2010 season at age 18. then was a top 3 prospect in 2011 and 2012

nice try tho.
