The Astros have one run on three total hits, and it's already the top of the 8th (mostly empty Minute Maid Park). They're already in mid-season form with their lackluster bats. Somebody forgot to tell the White Sox it's just an exhibition game. They've got relievers throwing 98 MPH gas like it's the final week of a pennant chase. LOL

Well, I'll still open a bag of peanuts on Friday Night when Houston plays the Rockies. The first game of the season is still a lot of fun.

Watching Carlos Lee pop up those lazy fly balls. He's getting paid $18.5 million this season. It's the final year left on his big contract. Next season the Astros payroll should be close to $25 million as they move to the American League. Hopefully from there they can rebuild the team a lot faster. This was a $102 million payroll back in 2004 and now it's going to be near the bottom. It's just a shame how fast it all fell apart.

Two runs in the bottom of the 8th for a nice come-from-behind win (3-2) on Easter Sunday. Brett Myers got his first save of the season.

Astros win two out of three to take the three-game opening series against the Rockies. A 2-1 start to the 2012 season. First time since 2006 that they won their opening series. First time since 2009 that the Astros are over .500!!!!!

They started 0-5 in 2011 and 0-8 in 2010. Sure is nice to get off to a 2-1 start with this young and rebuilding team. That's a good Rockies team they beat. And now the Astros play the Braves for three games in Houston tomorrow night. An Atlanta team that is 0-3 and hungry for a win but the Astros will give them a good series.

J.A. Happ was originally scheduled to pitch yesterday against the Rockies but the Astros pushed him back an extra night due to soreness in his arm. So Bud Norris became the Astros' number three starter to begin the season and he looked solid. Hopefully Happ can put a bad 2011 season behind him and pitch a good game tonight.

The 23-year-old Marwin Gonzalez is a future all-star at shortstop. But I wonder if Jed Lowrie will be the starter once he returns.
