John Axford is firmly entrenched as an elite closer now, after collecting 46 saves and 86 strikeouts last season, and now Francisco Rodriguez is gritting his teeth and agreeing to come back to be a setup man. K-Rod was something of a distraction when he popped off about his role late in the year, and that overshadowed just how well he pitched for the Brewers. Milwaukee general manager Doug Melvin places a lot of emphasis on the bullpen, and so it figures this group will improve as the season progresses.

yankees are mad they let him go

Your bullpen is only better until Joba is back next year :)

I am really anxious to see how Joba does when he returns post surgery.

Perfect opportunity to work him back in the rotation tbh, there really is no reason not to. When he gets closer to returning, he is going to have to rehab in the minors(he still has an option left). Just let him work up his inning as a starter andgive him a few starts. If it works you got your #2 starter without giving up anyone, if it fails you can just stick him back in the bullpen. Is he really a worse option than Hughes/Burnett/Noesi?

Very good point, and now that Greetings is gone, I can agree with you without being criticized.
I am hoping his velocity isn't shitty as it was the last few years. I would like to see Joba in the number two role, he's fun to watch and show's emotion on the mound.

His velocity over the past two years is 94.6 and 94.3, respectively. It's not going to get much higher than that. 2007 Joba is never coming back.

I didn't realize that it was that high, it seems as a starter, his velocity was in the 91-93 range consistently, but maybe that was just in the starts I saw him in.

I blame the midges...
