I think it was called right.

1. Mookie was there.
2. The fan absolutely closed his glove whether intentional or not

My hesitancy is the rule that if it’s beyond the wall, the fan CAN legally interfere.

Thoughts?

all homering (yes, laugh it up) aside, based on just fact it was a HR

you cannot definitively say whether a player does or does not make a play, that's total speculation. whether his glove is there or not is irrelevant as he did not make the play so you cannot assume he would have

the only facts that exist are

1) he did not catch the ball
2) the ball was over the wall and in the stands when it was touched (by player or fan)

not sure how anyone can call that an out, but yet again, fatty the umpire clearly dick riding the sox

That sounds very definitive. You say you cannot assume he would have, but you can’t assume he wouldn’t have either. We’ve seen that replay. No interference and Mookie makes that catch 90% chance. Fatty the bumble bee clearly dick riding the Astros?

i'm not assuming he wouldn't have, he didn't

fan has every right to play that ball when it's in the stands, which again, it definitively was

boston has outplayed houston this series, i'm not blind, but that play was a joke

astros pitching has been horrific and maldonado needs to learn how to block a ball so the series is likely where it should be anyway, but to act like that wasn't a hr is dumb

25 seconds

totally in the field of play rofl

"no interference shall be allowed when a fielder reaches over a fence, railing, rope or into a stand to catch a ball. He does so at his own risk."

joe west to the rescue boston, don't worry

I thought fans could catch the ball if it was in the stands. Is this not the rule?

i dont see how that wasnt a home run. he reached over the wall, theres been plenty of plays where a fielder has reached over the wall and didnt catch it and it wasnt an out.
