up until last season, i dont think i wanted the automatic strikezone for 2 reasons: it diminishes pitch framing ability and it takes out human element.

but after seeing the mlb do all they have with replay to make sure they get the calls right, why not go all in and get the strikezone right. these umps ive seen so far this year have been HORRIBLE. squeezing strikezones over an inch in on both sides of the plate and then all of the sudden from the 8th inning on, anything within a half a foot is a strike.

this is a ball somehow???

what do you guys think about an automated strikezone?

I wanna see it in my lifetime, but we aren't ready for it in 2018. There are still too many old people who will get cranky. These people represent an important part of the fan market for the MLB. We gotta wait til they die off first.

Ultimately, we will see some sorta sensor installed near the plate that will decide if it's a ball or strike. Even if the machine is imperfect, at least it will be consistent. Consistency is all the players really want. Once they get used to the automated strike zone, things will be fine.

I would love to see it but they can't put it in until it's perfected.
