Who is in the discussion for AL MVP?

No batter is in the top 10 for RBI/HR/AVG. A few people are close: George Springer (18/7/9). Jonathan Schoop (2/11/11). Justin Smoak (6/4/15).

Carlos Correa probably probably gets consideration because his average is just so high. And then there's Chris Sale but I'm not sure how voters feel about pitchers for MVP these days.

Thoughts?

Damn. Schoop having a career year.

Jose Altuve and Trout gonna be #1-2 MVP

Sale Cy Young and #3 MVP

Oops, I meant to say Altuve instead of Correa in the first post. Just got mixed up there.

I didn't notice Trout when looking over the stats since he's missed so many games. He would need to average 4.2 PA per team game for the rest of the season in order to have a qualifying batting average, but I doubt the voters would care about that too much. Even if the Angels miss the playoffs, you are probably right about him being above Sale. They gave him MVP last year despite his team's poor record.

He'll have no problem getting 4PA per game if he stays healthy.

If Trout leads the AL in WAR at the end of the season with only 100 games played, that's the exact reason he should win it. If Justin Verlander can win it playing 34 games, why can't Trout?

I think it'll go to Altuve, but I kinda think it should go to Trout or Schoop. Trout might deserve it honestly, but it sucks that he was hindered by injury. He could finish with more HR's and SB as Altuve in significantly less games (doubtful but possible) and a BA close to him.

Altuve's .363 is just unreal though and he's putting up power numbers too so I think it'll go to him.

I'm a sox fan, Sale is a freak, but nah that's what the Cy Young is for... Kershaw deserved it when he got it because he was that far above the rest. Sale is in K's, but not in other categories. Verlander didn't deserve it when he won it either imo. I always thought Maddux in 1995 was the most deserving ever of the MVP by pitcher, but lost to Barry Larkin. Maddux went 19-2 with a 1.63 ERA. That's unbelievable.

Not that unbelievable. Kershaw gonna do it next year.

Also lol at schoop winning MVP. Dude isn't even top 5. That's like saying Smoak should win it
