Both starting pitchers were considered legitimate Aces and elite last season.

Last season Sonny Gray was 14-7 with a 2.73 ERA and Chris Archer was 12-13 with a 3.23 ERA.
They were both ranked among the AL ERA leaders. Gray was 3rd and Archer was 6th.

But this year Sonny Gray is 4-8 with a 5.12 ERA and Chris Archer is 4-13 with a 4.68 ERA.

That being said, both Gray and Archer are drawing some heavy trade interest before the deadline.

Which one of those two former ERA league leaders is a safer bet to trade some good prospects for?
Some teams may be unwilling to trade any of their top prospects for a starting pitcher with declining stats.

would much rather have archer. he can be so dominant at times and possesses one of the filthiest pitches in the game.

Yeah, that's true. I was watching Chris Archer during his most recent start against a strong first-place Orioles lineup.
Early in that ballgame he looked dominating. He had a 3-1 lead going into the 5th inning. He was pretty much in cruise control.
But he ended up allowing 4 earned runs over 7.1 innings (6 Ks and 1 walk). He lost 4-3. Two home runs (bad location) did him in.

I wish. Are the White Sox even going to entertain the thought of trading him?
They are 5.5 games out of the 2nd wild-card spot in the AL: Behind five teams.
It's hard to say. I would probably consider them sellers. I would give up the farm for Chris Sale. LOL

I'm hoping that Sonny Gray or Chris Archer can be had for a decent price.
Maybe their current stats this season will scare some teams off.

It's hard for me to admit because I'm not sure if he'll be available in a trade.
