Why do they put, .5 in the games ahead or behind. How would you generate a .5 point? extra innings?

uneven # of games played

ex: 53-50 is half a game in front of 52-50


most people look at the loss column as a true depiction of # of games back

for example, if you're 53-50 and the other team is 52-49 even though the former has more wins, the latter is in a better spot.

The half game is when they only play through the top of the 5th

no one answered my question though. how is .5 generated. in hockey ot creates it.

if you play more games than the team you're .5 games ahead or behind of

1 extra game = .5
2 extra = 1
3 extra = 1.5

err u also factor in ws and losses

Jade answered your question. Do the damn math; your old enough to do kindergarden math. Pick two teams that are .5 games back Cardinals/Pirates (for example); plug the numbers that the formula says and you have your answer.
