Ok, so I paid my teams 200$ entry fee and was going to take the money I collect from the players and use that as an added donation (should be 180-200$).

The hospital donated an autographed Griffey swingman bat to go up for raffle.

Is it ethical for me to take the money I collect from the players and buy 180-200$ worth of raffle tickets on the bat? All the proceeds from the raffle still go to the hospital.

Not unless you aware the people what you did with their money. It is absolutely not if you don't tell them.

So if I don't tell the players that I am using the money I collect from them to buy raffle tickets then it is unethical?
What if I never made it aware to the players that I was going to donate the 180-200$ to begin with?

Exactly. Sorry bruh it doesn't matter since you already told them that you are gonna donate it. Essentially you are asking if lying is ethical.

Buying raffle tickets =/= donation

Well that's the thing. I never told my team that I would be donating the extra money. I just told them the entry fee for them to play was 15$ and that I would be paying the entry fee up front.

Well then why wouldn't you just use their money to pay for the team and buy $200 raffle tickets of your own? Because you already paid for the team?

I guess I'm still kind of confused on the original scenario.

In essence, you're using the players money to pay for the entry fee, and your own money to enter the raffle.

It just depends on who's pocket you take the money out of.

No problem here, unless your conscience is going to fuck you over.

This is what I was thinking, and what my dad and brother think too.

Yeah dude there is no problem with this.

Those sports donations don't cost the hospital shit in the first place
