I have a couple new rods this year. :)

I bought:
~ Temple Fork Outfitters Mangrove 7wt fly rod with a BVK III series reel.
~ Temple Fork Outfitters 8'8" 4pc 8-17 lb line 1/2-2 oz lure weight casting rod

I now need a nice baitcaster reel. I was thinking Shimano, but unsure. I would like to keep it somewhat cheaper so maby no more then 100. What would you guys recommend?

Make sure you give it a good bend test before buying it. My friend broke 4 poles at wal mart until he found a reliable one haha. I would recommend shimano or shakespear (ugly stick), always had good luck with them.

That + after the first one or two, sounds like just being a dick or abusing the pole past what it would really see anyway.

He was on a budget and I agree Wal Mart has terrible quality fishing poles. I live near Bass Pro and a Cabellas so that's where I go for gear. I wouldn't say he was over stressing the poles at all, they were just really shitty. Stay the hell away from Zebco rods n reels.

I didn't see you mentionned it was a baitcast

I'd go a with a citica or a curado

the main difference between the 2, except the price...is the curado can throw smaller lure quite easily while you won't be able to do that with the citica(I'm talking about really light lure.. like 1/8 oz)
both reels put 11-12 pound of drag so it should be more then enough to bring a huge 20 pounds salmon
