i remember shooting a bolt action .22 back in boy scouts and it was fun as hell

lookin for advice on a rifle to get for sport target shooting, something bolt action maybe a bit bigger than a .22

I'm a gun guru... or I used to be. After killing over 200 gooks in Nam, I swore I would never use nor pass on my forbidden knowledge again for fear that it might fall into the wrong hands.

If you want to just plink then stick with .22
Next step would be .223 which the rifle would cost you drastically more than a .22 rifle would

.22-250 work great, shoots straight and can even take down a moose

yeah, maybe if you shoot it in the eye and it travels to the brain. Anyone bringing a varmint rifle moose hunting is asking for trouble.

personally id stick with either .22, .223, or .308

This.. 22-250 isn't even legal for deer hunting, let alone moose. However it probably would have the punch to drop a moose with a perfect vitals shot. They're also very costly to target shoot with at around a buck a shell.

imo .22lr is super fun for target shooting .223 is a big step in price
