I meant it's part of Gymnastics, and Gymnastics has been around since the modern olympics started. As time goes by it's only natural for gymnastic variations to grow and more events to be added. I'm not really a fan of the ball thing (ribbon >), but it is a gymnastic event and I don't see why it shouldn't be an Olympic event.
It's called "rhythmic gymnastics" and blame the French. They invented it.
Not sure what is more stupid, synchronized swimming/diving or rhythmic gymnastics.
