I am interested to see what some riders suggest.
I am looking for a new mountain bike and currently use a 2009 trek 4300 with disc brakes.
I do not do crazy downhills or drops, but I do ride the trails hard.
So what kind of mountain bikes would you recommend I am looking to get away from the trek brand and have been looking into gt's .

if money is not a problem. spend 3-5,000 on a dual suspension that you can lock out if you want to.

the hard tail is the best for going up hill.

Hardcore downhill = dual suspension.

well the terrain I ride is uphill as well. That is why I am choosing hardtail.
