Horrible and pointless discussion.

Every sport that has a good amount of competition in it, is of the same difficulty. That is because each of those sports are playing in such a way that it's physically impossible to do better. When the limits of the human body are reached in both sports, and the conditions (duration of the match, distance to run, number of players on a team) are set up in such a way that it's doable, the sports are equally hard.

Depends on the person playing. I'd gather a 6'2" 250lb. kid would probably find basketball funner, but find cross country WAY harder. Whereas his best friend, a 5'7" 140lb. kid, would probably get pushed around in basketball. He'd run fine though.

Basketball by far, takes more than just endurance.

You're asking us to compare a skill sport to an athletic sport.

I've always looked at skill sports more like a hobby than a real sport though, so I'm biased.

The athletic sports require you to be in shape and be skilled, while skill sports require far less athleticism but more skill. You don't see fat guys running track and field, but fatness is quite rampant in sports like hockey, baseball and nascar.
