Want to get better at whatever sport you play? Read this, concentrate on it, make yourself follow.

If we look at the early age that most of our belief systems are formed and how rigidly we continue to hold onto them, it is no small wonder that most of us have a difficult time with change. We cannot see better things unfold without shaking up something inside of us first. Forget about beating the drum of what is. Notice what you don’t like, perhaps, but then quickly let it go. Focus, instead, on the direction your inner guidance always wants to lead you upon, which is a newer, better, happier feeling story. And then use every ounce of your “human being” to tell yourself the new story again and again and again.

nice little piece

i can relate and support that piece

ive noticed with sports, the best way to develop as a player is not to continue to advance in the skills you already have honed, but to dig deeper and build a bigger arsenal.

for example, when i played runningback in HS my coaches always got on me to start lowering the shoulder more ( i have a fairly skinny frame and enjoyed outrunning, juking, stiff arming the defenders )
but when i actually took the time to act on the chronic advice, it really paid dividends.

and in basketball, i grew up being a slasher type player, very accustomed to scoring in the paint and low block. but when i hit my senior year my coach really got on me to expand my range and it also helped wonders to my confidence.

having a variety of diverse skills will always supersede being exceptional in a couple aspects

this is very true with alot of things, but with sport for example, going against what is wanted is usually how to make a team better, for example, in most if not all sports, games are won on defence, but it is offensive that makes the highlight reals and earns you greatness.

merely need to look at succsessful winners over last few years.
dragons in the nrl -best defensive team by some margin
world cup 06, italy
world cup 10 spain (who played with far less offense then they are known for, maybe this is why they did not choke?)
pittsburg, greenbay superbowl.... need i say more?
individual sports are somewhat different, i have not had the time to analyze them to the extent of team games.

thats my 2 cents anyway.
