NCAA Division I Volleyball
Championship Tournament Final 4:
Penn State (4) vs Texas (9) on Thursday, 7pm EST
USC (6) vs California (7) on Thursday, 9:30 pm EST
Some history:
Penn State is the last remaining top 4 seeded team left in the tournament, although the road to the championship game is blocked by Texas, whom they faced last year in an amazing championship game. Penn State came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3 straight sets and win their 3rd straight NCAA Div I title. This year's match up will definitely be an interesting one since Texas lost their star player, Destinee Hooker, who logged 34 kills in the last match-up between these two teams. As well, Penn State has lost 3 key players after graduation last year, and half of their starting line up is freshmen. On a final note - Texas is ranked higher than Penn State, but PSU was given a higher seed in the tournament.
On the other side of the bracket is USC and California, both teams are of course PAC-10 buddies. Cal has been ranked much higher than USC all season, however USC continuously dominates Cal both at home and away this season. Cal just couldn't catch a break losing 3-1 and 3-2. USC looks to be the dominant team in this 3rd match up of the season, especially after besting rival Stanford (ranked #2) 3 sets to 2, a win that sent USC to the Final 4.
Bets:
I'd like to place 75fg on Penn State and 50fg on California.
Cheers!
