Do you guys not get blacks around you? That looks like a white to me which is like mid-late season around here, usually we have a good week of blacks before any of those start showing up. Either way i'm jealous, I think someone else found my usual spots this year cause i've come up empty every time i've gone out so far.

yes, we get both here. It's been colder than normal this year, I heard of a few people finding some blacks within the last week or so, but I haven't actually seen any. The mushrooms seem to come out at the same time the lilacs bloom here and they just started this week. I find both at the same time never really noticed if the blacks come out first or second now that you mention it. I have to run people off my property this time of year, I have 460 acres and its hard to keep an eye on all of it. There is a real nice spot for shrooms about 1/2 mile away from my house, but people sneak in and steal them a lot. I wanted to put some bear traps out, but my wife made me reconsider...lol

I would put a sign that says bear trap, beware

Yep lilacs and the mayapples are my main clues as well

Haha, yeah gotta protect your 'shrooming spots, we used to have the same problem on some of our land. The only time i got some frontier justice I was out playing paintball with my buddies and we saw a few ppl on our land and took some potshots at them to scare em off, otherwise they have been smart enough to come out when we aren't around. Sad part is if i tried that these days they would probably try to sue my ass somehow .

Jealous of your pound, gonna try to make it out this week and see if my luck improves.
